Mrs. Elmer - HS Science
Our new High School Science teacher this year, Erin Elmer, is also a new PCS mom of four! We’re so happy to have her as part of our Warrior team. We asked her to answer some questions about herself to share with you!
Erin attended PCS herself as a student! She also attended college at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA. Before teaching at PCS, she taught at St. Stephens Lutheran Academy and was a substitute for Seneca Valley School District.
When asked why she wanted to be a teacher Erin said, “I wanted to be a teacher because I love to learn and then help other people to gain understanding.” Erin and her husband have four children, who are thirteen, twelve, nine and seven. They attend Covenant Community Church, where she teaches in the ESL program and taught Bible study until this May. She likes activities that allow her to be outside like gardening and hiking.
Erin is teaching Life Science, Earth Science and Biology 1 this year. When asked why she chose PCS Erin replied, “We had considered sending our children to Portersville in the past but various circumstances prevented that. This year, all four of my children are in school full time and an opening in my subject area was available, so we are grateful that this door opened for our family.”
When asked how has your experience at PCS been different from past schools Erin said, “It is exciting to teach Science while also talking about our Creator!” When asked what she would say to a family considering sending their children to PCS Erin answered, “We have already noticed a difference for our children with the smaller class sizes and academics of Portersville. The teachers have a good balance between education that includes a screen and then having the freedom to turn it off and instruct without it. The school has worked very hard to have academics that are enhanced because they include a Christian worldview rather than watering down the quality in order to create a bubble.”
