Meagan Summerville

We welcome our new teacher in the Social Studies department, Meagan Summerville! Mrs. Summerville will be teaching Social Studies/History for grades 5-9.

Tell us a little bit about your teaching and college experience. “I earned my bachelors degree from Clarion University and my Masters degree from Southern Wesleyan University. My previous teaching experience was in Charleston, SC. I spent my first year teaching 7th grade History at Morningside Middle School in North Charleston, SC. After that I went on to teach 7th and 8th grade History at St. Andrews Middle School (St. Andrews was the name of the section of West Ashley- in Charleston). My last two years were at West Ashley Advanced Studies Magnet, which was the product of a merger between St. Andrews Middle and another school.”

Why did you want to be a teacher? “I wanted to teach because I enjoy working with your people as well as learning about the Social Studies. In the last year or so, I have decided to get back in to teaching. After seven years outside of the classroom, I felt the calling to come back.”

Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself? “I have three kids, Kellen who is 12, Lucas who is 9 and Emmry who is 5.”

Why did you choose PCS? “I wanted to work in an environment that glorifies God and teaches through a Biblical lens. I truly believe that God brought me here- and I'm so glad He did!”

How has your experience at PCS so far been different than at past schools? “It has been very different. I spent 10 years teaching in the Public school system in South Carolina. So far, this has been everything I was hoping teaching would be. I just taught a class where we discussed the Creation Mandate with relation to geography. I could never have done that were I was, It was awesome!”

What would you tell a family considering to send their children to PCS? “This is not just a Christian school in word, but in deed.”

We wish Meagan a warm welcome and all the best as she makes a difference in the lives of our students!
