Well Done Warrior: John

April 26, 2024
By Mary Barnes

John has been at PCS for three years and has made the most of them! John is on the soccer, basketball, and men's volleyball teams at PCS. In his senior year, he has been a captain on the soccer and basketball teams. He said that his memories associated with athletics are his favorite memories from PCS. John added that he will greatly miss his friends as they all go off to college. When asked what he valued the most about going to a Christian school, John replied that the small class sizes make for good connections with those in the school community.

In the fall, John will be attending Geneva to study political science. We will miss John's easy-going personality and wish him the very best as he moves forward from PCS. Well done, Warrior!

Well Done Warrior: Selah

April 25, 2024
By Mary Barnes

This “Well Done Warrior” spotlight is on Selah, who has been at PCS for 12 years. She has been very involved with volleyball, both at PCS and outside school. She is also on the Yearbook committee, and is a member of Student Council and National Honor Society.

Selah said she has many good memories at PCS, but some of her favorites are from this year's Senior Wilderness Trip. She said that after she graduates, she will really miss seeing her friends every day and the tightly-knit community at PCS. She advises current underclassmen at PCS to enjoy their years at PCS because they go by quickly!

Something Selah values about her education at PCS is knowing that her teachers are invested in her as a person, not just as a student. She also said that the most valuable thing she has learned at PCS is the teaching about how to interpret the world we live in through a biblical worldview. A meaningful scripture passage to Selah is Micah 6:8, He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

In the fall, Selah will be attending Houghton University to study Pre-Physical Therapy and also to play volleyball. May God bless your endeavors, Selah!

Well Done Warrior: Tim

Tim is one of our seniors graduating in 2024. He has been attending PCS for 12 years, and indicated that his favorite memories are those with his friends, which is what he said he will miss the most about PCS. Tim has been involved in soccer and basketball at PCS. He was a captain on both teams and was also named the MVP of the boys' basketball team. Tim also said that the thing he values the most about PCS is the community here. When Tim was asked what the most valuable thing he learned at PCS, he replied, “Most things from Dr. Cost”. A meaningful scripture verse to Tim is Psalm 118:24, This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

In the fall, Tim will be attending Slippery Rock University, and he plans to major in Sports Management. We wish you the best in all of your endeavors, Tim!

Well Done Warrior: Naomi

By Mary Barnes

Naomi has been at PCS for 14 years--since pre-school! She is involved with many activities, including volleyball, girls basketball manager, musical stage director, National Honor Society, Senior Class Treasurer, and Yearbook Editor. Being at PCS so long has given Naomi many memories. Some of her favorite ones include staying at school late into the night for sports or musical-related activities and laughing about jokes in classes with some of her favorite teachers. She also remembers playing hide and seek in tenth grade with her class during school, but then getting in trouble. Some of the things Naomi will miss when she moves on from PCS are all of her friends in the younger grades. She said, “I enjoy talking to so many people and will miss seeing them in the hallway and sharing a smile.”

On a more serious note, when asked what she valued about being at a Christian school, Naomi replied that she values how the Bible and scripture are integrated into everything we do. She also said that the most valuable thing she learned at PCS is knowing: “Why I believe in God and Christianity, and then how to defend that.” A meaningful scripture verse to Naomi is 1 Timothy 4:12, Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

Naomi's future plans include becoming a physical therapist. She is starting on that journey by attending Geneva College in the fall to major in Biology. We wish Naomi the best as she moves on from PCS. You will be missed, Naomi!

Mr. Grove

By Mary Barnes

Mr. Grove is in his second year of teaching Bible at PCS. He also is a PCS alum, having attended PCS grades 7-12. Besides his work at PCS, Mr. Grove stays busy spending time with friends hiking, playing games, or hanging out. Mr. Grove is also busy planning a wedding! This summer he will be marrying, Leah, a former PCS classmate who he got to know while they were both participating in the PCS musical when they were in high school. Fast forward seven years and they are tying the knot!

This year Mr. Grove is teaching 9th grade how to read the Bible, and he says that he has enjoyed spending time preparing for that class. He adds that it has helped shape how he can read the Bible in the way it is designed to be read. In extracurricular activities, Mr. Grove coached the Junior High Soccer Team this year. He has also taught the Pickleball elective class this semester, which was not a stretch for him since he has helped coach Seneca Valley's Tennis team in the past. Mr. Grove also does some reading in his spare time, and is currently reading “You Are What You Love” by James Smith. We are thankful for our teachers and are especially happy when a former PCS student wants to come back and join the faculty!
